It has a vast source of natural resources and a huge sphere of influence.

Even though it has such fantastic features, why is it that Knowledge driven industries still lack behind (just a little bit.I dont mean they are not good..China produces more PhDs than India and maybe USA too.) The IT industry is in India and though Chinese labour is cheaper, why is that the IT industry is not that developed.

What are the steps needed to improve the Chinese education system and solve these problems:-
Some of the suggestions I think may be needed
1) The need to educate young Chinese students to learn ENGLISH . The Chinese students must be talented, but they lack the communication skills that polish up their knowledge. Look at some of the Chinese scientists in USA that have done so well. What separates the Indian IT industry and the potential Chinese It industry ? Chinese professionals are cheaper to MNCs and almost equal(or maybe better) in
quality than those in India. Moreever, there is a growing feeling that Indian IT professionals are getting costlier. Thus, Vietnam, China, Phillipines are very attractive destinations for MNCs to invest.
The IT industry and other knowledge driven industries can benefit a lot if the true talen and potential of Chinese students comes out using English and polished communication skills.

I have worked in IIT-Bombay and I know the level of students and teachers that are present here. I can safely say that there are only 2 things different :-
1) The students seem to be fed well (knowledge) by professors. They are ready to gain knowledege. Many times , I have seen them use WRONG MEANS to gain knowledge too (Yeah you will not get this info from any websites..this is classified under the table info that I am bringing out to light). Such is the zeal and drive of some students. They dont mind copying other top students and scientists (They are encouraged to do so by Professors themselves, something that I feel is against ethics. I dont like this kind of research work)

2) The faculty is educated from top institutes. Most of them are foreign-educated indians..

China has given many top-class scientists. Just asking for their help and adding a few of these qualities (backed my govt. policies) will help China compete with India and other knowledge behemoths for MNC investment.

Hope this helps..

Comments and views welcomed!

Teh chinese govt. needs to support such aspiring students and allow them to gain the skills for imparting them back to their homeland later.
------------------------

Comments:-2
-----------------------
Regardinig the above post :-

This URL tells that:-
-------------------------------------------
http://www.reportlinker.com/p0151250/China-Education-and-Training-Industry-Report-2008-2009.html
-------------------------------------------

"
There were 109,000 private schools (educational institutions) of all levels in China in 2008, and the student enrollment registered 28.244 million, in which 640 private colleges (including 322 independent colleges) had the 4.013 million enrolled students. In addition, the number of private training institutions registered 19,579, where 8.3476 million person times have been trained.

Nearly 100 million Chinese take part in the training of all kinds each year, wherein, the medium- and low-level training enjoys an 80% share, and the high-level training is just in the initial stage of development. In general, training market has great potential in China, yet the low-level training is in rather disorderly management, and the high-level training is not mature. Currently, the training industry concentration is low, and there is none training institution to have 1% market share.
"
-----------------------

My publications

Dear Friends,

My research interests are in Cell Biology/Systems Biology with special interests in cancer.

Some of my research work is listed below:-
-----------------------------------------------------
• My previous job at KPIT Cummins and current job at JR Technologies required a lot of research-oriented approach i.e. solving different complex problems in software applications. As a self-learned person, I have been doing research work since Jan 2006 with a scientific temperament and a research-oriented approach. I was able to resolve several difficult and complex issues in software applications faced in my work.
• Have published a research paper titled “Object-Oriented SDLC” in National Conference (IndiaCom-2008) in Feb-2008.
• Have written a research paper titled “Understanding Code Patterns” in July-2008. It has been published in an International Conference (ICCEE 2008) in Thailand in Dec-2008. It is also accepted in the international journal IJCEE in March 2009.
• Written a paper on "Applying Wave Dynamics to Parallel Computing" which is accepted as a chapter in the refereed book “Pervasive Computing-Applications & Threats”. It is soon to be published in it. It has also been accepted as a chapter in the refereed book “Pervasive Computing-Business & Trends”. It is soon to be published in it.
• Have written a paper on “Artificial Erythrocytes-Models & Design”, which has been accepted in more than 3 reputed international conferences(BioSysBio-2009,BMIC 2009, BIOCOMP 2009). The paper abstract is published in BioSysbio 2009 (2-page abstract).
• Writing a paper on "Automaton-Based Analysis Of 3-dimensional biological system". (Keywords: Nanomedicine, cancer biology)

• I am also working on a research project on the same framework. It is hosted on www.sourceforge.net website for your reference.

• Developed my own formula for Financial Risk Estimation and published it in my M.C.A (Jun-2004 to Jun 2007) university final semester project (Project titled financial forecasting & Risk Mgt.) in March-2007.
• Wrote a paper on “Study of Human Behavior by studying Facial Patterns using Egg-Layer Theory ” in 2001 in School as part of submission of H.S.C Biology Practical Exams

-----------------------------------------------------

Sorry I do not discuss ongoing work. Drop me a mail if interested in discussing anything.

Do let me know if you want to discuss anything on the above areas or Computer Science.

Regards,
Jitesh Dundas

Nanomedicine

Nanomedicine is the area of nanoscience in which nano-technology is used to solve problems in medicine. A lot of research is being done for using small nano-sized robots for drug-delivery.
This is still in the experimental stage and given the pace at which science is moving ahead,
it will soon be available for all of us.

Nanorobots are being considered that can swim in blood, repair cells and fight infections. This is extremelty difficult as the human body is full of complex design patterns, with each region having its own type of cells, varying in robustness and enviroment.

Robert Frietas (I regard him as the pioneer of nanomedicine) has done a lot of research in this area and it is very important that any newcomer in this field reads his publications. He has written(writing the 3rd one) 2 books on Nanomedicine and they are available freely on his webpage.

Some other good professors whose work I have read and are well-known are:-

1) Prof. Citti (CMU)
2) Prof. Robert Langer (He is known for drug-delivery, not nanomedicine but worth mentioning this great scientist. One of my personal favorites)
3) Prof. james Friend (Monash University) He has made a micromotor that can swim in blood.
4) Dr. Cavalcanti (Author of several publications in nanorobotics)

If you find any good professors whom I may have unknowingly left from the list, please do let me know. I will be happy to add them

Resources:-
1) Check the websites of all these greats.
2) http://www.nanomedicine.com/NMI.htm

Let me know if you find anything new in this field.

Regards,
Jitesh Dundas
